Today I sent the first letter to the deployed soldier that I adopted through "Soldiers' Angels". Writing to a total stranger was a little more challenging than I thought, especially since I know nothing about him except his name, and
that there are about 19 soldiers in his platoon. Also, a little statement that was sent to me from the Soldiers' Angels program said that his captain signed him up for the program. And... that is all I know. Through this program, I committed to write to my soldier each week, and send a care package at least once per month. It dawned on me this morning that a few letters may go out to him before I receive one in return, given that it takes a week or so to go from point A to point B. I hope to have the first care package put together and sent this coming weekend, as well as one to a friend of mine who is serving oversees too.
Well, below is the letter (names/addresses protected) and a couple snapshots of the epic send-off. Enjoy.
**Have a laugh on me! I totally screwed up the date on the letter! I wrote it on November 27th, but I was really tired and wrote November 22nd. Wow, can't believe I didn't notice this until I glanced over the first draft. Way to leave a first impression...
Stamped and ready to send! |
